Christmas Retail...

...is now out for the taking. We have some pretty awesome stuff, just so you know. Along with that, we have Polar Bear Sugar Cookies, Peppermint Brownies, Cranberry Bliss Bars, and Gingerbread Loaf. I've only tried the Cranberry Bliss Bar so far, but it's pretty decent. Tasted like cranberries and lemons to me, but that might have something to do with the Iced Lemon Pound Cake that is also in the pastry case. I'm dying to eat a Polar Bear and a Peppermint Brownie. The Gingerbread has legit ginger shavings on it, so if you're into ginger, get that ASAP.

Yesterday I worked 4-10:30. Today I'm working 5:30-10:30. Tomorrow, 4-8. Saturday, I'm going home to Pennsylvania! Life is good.

Oh! We also have Christmas Via out, Christmas Blend, Decaf Christmas Blend, and a Christmas Espresso Blend that I hear is pretty awesome. You could blow some serious cash at Starbucks right now.

I think that's pretty much it in the world of Starbucks right now. Otherwise, today I have a doctors appointment to set up a Primary Care Physician, class at 3, then off to work.

The Great Coffee Spill of '10

Today, my shift manager spilled about 5 pounds of coffee on the floor. See above.

Then we turned it into an elephant. We make our own fun.

Work tonight was otherwise the usual pre-close routine. Floors, bathrooms, clean the bar. Blah blah blah. While we make our own fun, it isn't all fun and games.

Oh! Just a heads up, our Thanksgiving Blend is totally limited, so grab a bag while it's still on the shelves, seriously. Good stuff. Then comes the Christmas Blend, and my guess is that's a little less limited, but limited no less. Buy it while it's out!

Also, the Caramel Brulee Latte, Peppermint Mocha, and Eggnog Latte are out for your enjoyment. They're holiday beverages, so they're obviously also only out for a little while. Waste no time, my friends, get to Starbucks ASAP. Make my paycheck/tips. Otherwise I will be without gas, cigarettes, and Christmas presents for the family.

I Feel You In My Bones

Let's see...

Today once again consisted of no work, but tomorrow is a different story. Such is the life of a Barista.

I did have class today though. Computer Info &  Technology and Environmental Biology. The latter of the two could quite frankly be the death of me. I will overcome.

My Grandfather died Sunday, so I have the weekend off as a sort of mental/emotional health break. I'll be going to Virginia with a friend of mine, who you will undoubtedly hear about later.

My coworker Jeremy did this magnificent work. It's basically whipped cream in the lid of an empty cup. It looks pretty awesome though.

The Plan

I'm just going to guess that we've all been to Starbucks or at least know what it is. You know, expensive coffee, relaxing music, a decent variety of drinks, all that fun stuff. Well, I work there, and I decided that people don't hear much about the life of a Barista, no less a Starbucks Barista. Therefore, I am going to tell you on what I hope to be a semi-regular basis what I do and what I experience at work.

So let's start with today, shall we?

I'm off work today, which is totally fine considering I worked 5:30 AM to 1 PM yesterday (that was just hell in a mug, quite frankly). However, I am a full time college student, but I do have a pretty light academic load. My plan for the day consists of studying and doing homework. Yeah, exciting life, right?

On a different note, I will get a picture up soon that consists of Barista goodness.
